If I'm not mistaken, Dan sell the belts for the X-2000 on his D'Antiques site.

We have the capstan belt for the X-1000, X-2000 series but this question says the 'm' model has 2 belts. I don't see that model in my belt applications list and am not familiar with it so I'm reluctant to say I have it.
If it is the same as the X-2000R, we have it in stock here:

Good morning friends. I have an X-2000M and the factory service manual which I purchased from TEAC in California. The manual is not an aftermarket publishing. They list the capstan belt as: "5534692001 Belt, Capstan" and list in the comon models column the X-10R. My X-1000R manual lists the belt as: "5534692000". But, they refer to the X-10R as well! My X-700R uses the "5534692001" belt but refers to the X-10R too!

Remember that the X-2000M is a single direction machine same as the X-1000, X-2000. I don't know what the difference,if any, is.

Don,

Since you actually have the manual for that unit, could you tell us IF it actually has two capstan belts lik he is describing? That sounds REALLY bizzare to me, and I have a difficult time believing that it is true.

I have two guesses, about what he might be referring to:
1) maybe he is refering to both the capstan belt, and the counter belt (if that machine has one).
2) Perhaps somebody tried to replace the belt on that machine once upon a time, and could not find the right size belt, and so tried some hokey arrangment using two smaller belts instead.

Actually, he's looking at a drawing from openreel.net. According to their drawing,it uses 2 different belts.
The capstan belt is P/N 5534690000 and the flywheel belt is 5534693000. HERE is their drawing. As Don pointed out, this model is a 1-direction machine and the belt does not shift on the flywheels as it does on the 2-direction models. I see no reason however to use 2 belts.
openreel.net stocks the correct belts but he wants the dimensions so he can buy them from another source.
I do not know the dimensions but now I know why Teac didn't answer him.

Guys, I have made a major oversight. When I revisited the X-2000M Service Manual, I found that the X-2000M has two belts. It is in a little picture off to the side. One belt goes from capstan flywheel to capstan flywheel and nowhere else. The other belt is conventional. It goes from capstan flywheel to capstan motor pulley to the other capstan flywheel. Please look at the picture below in the lower right hand corner. Remember that the X-2000M machine is a 7.5 and 15 IPS machine. The others don't go 15 IPS.

Sorry for the error. Also, I have had no problem getting parts from TEAC. They are in California (unless they have recently closed) and you don't have to go to Japan to get parts. Remember that the Industrial TEAC is the TASCAM and they have some very similar machines. Many TASCAM machines are still in the field.

I hope this clears things up. Tomorrow, I will look inside of my X-2000M and see if it has two belts. (Its late now!)
