Hi, This may be an old, frequently asked question, but it is important to me.. Can the X-1000R be calibrated to new, high level tapes, such as Quantegy 499 (6db) or GP9 (9db)? No need for detailed procedure, just the general idea what to do. Thanks Ronen

I've wondered this myself, but have not gottent around to trying it yet. On 99% of consumer machines the answer would clearly be no. But on EE compatible machines, you just might be able to bias the machines high enough for those tapes to work.
I have been meaning to try GP9 in the EE position on my X2000, but I have simply not gotten around to it yet. But this is just an experiment that I have been meaning to try; I don't necessarily expect that it will work.
If you want to learn about biasing procedures, then you need to buy a service manual for your machine. The procedure is far too complicated and machine specific for me to walk you through it here.
