Hello all, I've recently been given a Philips N7300 to add to my collection but there is a wire broken from the plug that leads to the bottom board, with a grey lead going to the capstan wheel (one assumes this is for measuring speed), and a blue lead going to the capstan motor, but the black lead has broken off and I can't see where it should go to. I can't seem to find a manual anywhere. Can anybody help with either the wiring or manual. Cheers, Daymz

Hi!
I?ll get one of these recorders + the service manual soon and then I can help you out. (next week) I just bought one that has the wery common failure with the broken plastic parts in the capstan roller housing as a partsdeck.

Given up with it now anyway, found where the wire came from, it was also from the motor, but still not much life, the heads are terminally worn and the previous owner was such a heavy smoker that when I sprayed contact cleaner over all the internal pots, streams of tobacco "juice" came pouring out out everywhere, so it's gone to the great tape deck bed in the sky. Thanks for looking, Daymz

Sorry chief, already binned it, still have the knobs and switch covers though, but pretty much everything was kn@ckered! If you want these, send me a private mail with your address and I'll pop them in the post. It was a black N7300 by the way, wasn't sure whether they did silver or not but thought I'd better add this information.

Hi!
Ok, not much to do then! :-) But I think black ones ar uncommon I have just seen silver/grey ones so far. Therefor I have no use of the knobs right now. I don?t really like these N7300 decks, the quality is bad, only plastics everywhere and some really strange solutiones in the electronics.... but hopefully I?ll get mine back in working order again. It?s in good shape exept the plastic pinch roller housing.

One side of that blak wire goes to conn.6 ( connector 6, little green one) the other side goes to one of the pin at the left motor ( looking from the back when deck is open)
